The Envision Whittier General Plan Update and the 2021-2029 Housing Element were adopted on October 12, 2021.
 
The related Final Envision Whittier  was certified as well.

The City Council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 5:00 pm using Zoom video conferencing.  

The City of Whittier is proposing a comprehensive update to its existing General Plan, including the Housing Element. The updated Whittier General Plan is expected to be adopted in 2021 and will guide the City's development and planning.

Draft General Plan and Draft EIR Released for Review

The Draft Envision Whittier General Plan and its associated Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) are released for review and comment. 

The Draft EIR’s public comment period is July 9, 2021 – August 23, 2021.  Please submit written comments to Sonya Lui, Principal Planner at slui@cityofwhittier.org or Sonya Lui, Principal Planner, City of Whittier, 13230 Penn Street, Whittier, CA  90602.

Preliminary Draft Housing Element and June 8th Presentation to City Council

The City of Whittier is updating its Housing Element, in accordance with California State law. The Preliminary Draft Housing Element is being presented to the City Council for its input and feedback before the Element is provided to the State of California Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) for its review.
